We have are aware I’m sure of the recent increase in Asylum seeker support. The rate went from £39.60 per week to £39.63 per week. This is a disgraceful position for the UK Government to take. How can anyone survive on just over £5 per day? This is to cover all food & toiletries.
The Government should do the right thing and increase the rate inline with the Universal credit boost of £20 per week. We have to make sure that everyone in society can access basic necessities.
If you know of anyone that is struggling please send them in the direction of a community Pantry. While this is definitely not an alternative to the Government increasing Asylum support, it will help to make the individuals money go a bit further.
